Current features

  *  Monetary requires an active iCloud account and an internet connection.

The following sections show different screen shots on a 4 inch screen iOS device.

Using Monetary for the first time

When the Monetary application is first used, it will prompt the user to name their account. The account is where all transaction data will be saved in the users iCloud account. The user can change the account name at a later time.

After naming the account, before adding a new transaction, the user must first create the categories and payment methods that will be included with each transaction detail. It is not possible to create a transaction without including a category and payment method with the transaction, this is why it is recommended to save some of the categories and payment methods that you intend to use before starting to create transactions.  More categories and payment methods can be added at a later time.

It is not possible to create a transaction without including a category and payment method with the transaction, this is why it is recommended to save some of the categories and payment methods that you intend to use before starting to create transactions. New categories and payment methods can be added at a later time. Make sure categories have a different spelling and also make sure payment methods have a different spelling.

Select Delete Category for categories or Delete Payment Method for payment methods, from the next screen, select the one to delete and then tap on the trash can button.  After confirming the delete, wait for the response message from the iCloud server.

If a category or payment method is deleted, the transactions that include the deleted category or payment method will not be deleted but the user will not be able to search for those transactions using the deleted category or payment method. The user can still search for the transaction using the money in or money out page.

If the user later on re-creates the deleted category or payment method with the same spelling, this newly re-created category or payment method will not be connected to transactions created with the deleted category or payment method with the same name. This is because each category or payment method created is separate and unique, even if they have the same spelling as a different category or payment method.  For this reason, it is recommended that you always create categories and payment methods with a different spelling.

If the user wants to associate a different or new category name or payment method name with an existing transaction they will have to edit the transaction and change the category name or payment method name.
